Turn your corporate event into an experience as you cruise along the Amsterdam Light Festival route. The approximately 5-kilometre route features around 20 light artworks and takes you through the Oosterdok, towards the Amstel and past part of the historic Plantage neighbourhood.

What is the difference between a bespoke corporate cruise and a private cruise package?
A bespoke corporate cruise gives you maximum flexibility. You can choose your preferred boat, catering, drinks, layout, duration and boarding location.
Our private cruise packages are designed for convenience. Boat hire, crew and catering are combined into a pre-arranged package with clear per-person pricing, making them ideal if you want everything organised without building the event from scratch.
What is included in an Amsterdam Light Festival Cruise Package?
Depending on the selected package, your private boat, skipper, crew and catering are combined into one arrangement. Options range from drinks and bites to buffets, walking dinners and complete dinner cruises.
Can we customise a cruise package?
Some additions are possible, but our packages are designed as standardised arrangements. If you want to choose a specific boat, completely customise the menu, change the layout or create a unique programme, a bespoke private corporate cruise is the better option.
Can we choose our own boat?
Yes, when booking a bespoke corporate cruise you can choose your preferred vessel, subject to availability. With our fixed private cruise packages, we select the most suitable vessel based on your group size and availability.
What types of boats are available for corporate groups?
Our fleet ranges from intimate historic saloon boats to spacious event vessels for large corporate groups. This allows us to accommodate everything from executive dinners and small teams to large company celebrations.
Are your Amsterdam Light Festival boats historic?
Yes. We operate a genuinely historic fleet. Hildebrand dates from 1880, Proost van Sint Jan from 1886, Jacob van Lennep from 1888, Najade from 1912, Peter de Grote from 1939 and Wapen van Amsterdam from 1947.
Are all your boats electric?
Yes. Our entire fleet is fully electric, creating a quiet environment that is particularly pleasant for conversations, networking and dining on board.
Are the boats covered?
Yes. Our Amsterdam Light Festival boats are covered, protecting your guests from rain, wind and winter weather while allowing them to experience the illuminated artworks from the water.
Are the boats heated?
Yes. Our boats have regular heating as well as infrared heating, keeping the interior comfortable throughout cold winter evenings.
Do the boats have toilets?
Yes. All our Amsterdam Light Festival boats have toilet facilities on board. Photos of the toilets and other facilities can be found on each individual boat page.
Do the boats have a bar?
Yes. Our boats have fully stocked bars, allowing us to serve beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee, tea and other beverages during your corporate event.
Can we have catering on board?
Absolutely. Our vessels have space for onboard catering, with options ranging from luxury bites and buffets to walking dinners and fully served private dining.
Can we have a private chef on board?
Yes. Selected dining arrangements include a chef preparing and serving the dishes fresh on board, making them particularly suitable for corporate dinners and client events.
Can dietary requirements be accommodated?
Yes. Vegetarian options and many other dietary requirements can be accommodated. Halal catering can often also be arranged upon request. Please provide all requirements in advance.
How do drinks work on a corporate cruise?
You can choose between drinks charged based on actual consumption or an unlimited drinks arrangement. Selected wines and seasonal drinks such as mulled wine and hot chocolate can also be arranged.
Can we customise the layout of the boat?
Most of our vessels have a flexible floor plan that can be adapted to your event. Depending on the boat, we can create layouts for seated dining, drinks, networking or a combination of seated and standing areas.
Proost van Sint Jan and Najade have fixed layouts, while most of our other vessels offer greater flexibility.
Can we organise a presentation or networking event on board?
Yes. A private boat creates a natural setting for networking because your entire group stays together throughout the event. On suitable vessels, the layout can also be adapted around presentations, receptions or business gatherings.
How many guests can join a corporate cruise?
We accommodate both small teams and large corporate groups. The best vessel depends on your group size, catering requirements and preferred event setup.
Which boats are suitable for large corporate groups?
For larger events, vessels such as Peter de Grote and Wapen van Amsterdam provide significantly more space for guests, catering and flexible layouts.
Can Peter de Grote and Wapen van Amsterdam sail the complete festival route?
No. Due to their size, Peter de Grote and Wapen van Amsterdam cannot navigate the entire regular Amsterdam Light Festival route. They follow an alternative itinerary that still allows guests to experience a large part of the festival, including areas around the Nieuwe Herengracht, Oosterdok and Amstel.
Can you pick up our team near the office?
Often, yes. Our private boats have access to more than 150 boarding locations throughout Amsterdam, making it possible to start your corporate event close to your office, hotel, restaurant or event venue.
Which boarding locations are included?
Our standard central boarding locations are Singel 9, Singel 250, Singel 359 and Amsterdam Central Station. These locations are approximately 15 minutes by boat from the Amsterdam Light Festival route and are offered without an additional call-out fee.
Can we choose another boarding location?
Yes. Alternative pick-up and drop-off locations can be arranged for an additional call-out fee, subject to accessibility for your selected vessel.
Where do Peter de Grote and Wapen van Amsterdam depart from?
Due to their size, these vessels can only use selected docks. Their standard boarding location is Ms. van Riemsdijkweg 51. Other suitable large-ship boarding locations may be possible.
Can we organise a Christmas or end-of-year event on board?
Absolutely. The Amsterdam Light Festival period is particularly suitable for company Christmas parties, end-of-year drinks and corporate dinners. You can combine the festival with drinks, catering and entertainment aboard your own private boat.
Are the boats decorated during the festive season?
Yes. We decorate our boats with atmospheric lighting and Christmas ornaments during the festival season, creating a warm winter atmosphere on board.
Can a Christmas tree be arranged on board?
Yes. Depending on the vessel and your event, Christmas decorations and a Christmas tree can be arranged on board.
Can we bring our own company decorations or branding?
Yes. Suitable company branding and decorations can be brought aboard private cruises. Please discuss larger installations or extensive branding with our team beforehand so we can confirm what is possible on your selected vessel.
Can we play our own music?
Yes. Many of our vessels have Bluetooth sound systems. Amsterdam regulations limit amplified music aboard commercial passenger vessels to 76 dB, making it suitable for atmospheric music during drinks, dinner and networking.
How long does an Amsterdam Light Festival Corporate Cruise take?
Around two hours works well for combining the festival with drinks or dining, but bespoke cruises can be extended depending on your event programme and availability.
What will we see during the cruise?
The Amsterdam Light Festival route stretches approximately 5 kilometres through Amsterdam and features around 20 light artworks, passing areas including the Oosterdok, Amstel and part of the Plantage neighbourhood.
Will we see the complete Amsterdam Light Festival route?
Most smaller vessels can navigate the regular festival route. The exact itinerary can be affected by canal traffic, boarding location and sailing conditions. Our largest vessels follow an alternative route due to their dimensions.
What happens in case of bad weather?
Rain, snow and cold temperatures normally don’t prevent us from sailing because our boats are covered and heated. Cruises are only cancelled in exceptional circumstances, such as an official KNMI Code Red warning, frozen canals or conditions that make sailing unsafe.
How far in advance should companies book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for Thursday and Friday evenings and dates close to Christmas. These are popular dates for corporate events and preferred boats can become unavailable.
Can we receive a company invoice?
Yes. Corporate reservations can be invoiced directly to your company using the billing details supplied for the booking.
